Overview

Founded in 1826 and inspired by the ideas of Jeremy Bentham UCL was the first entirely secular university in the UK and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men. It was a founding college of the university of London It is situated in the heart of London in Bloomsbury close to the British Museum and is home to the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Slade School of Art. UCL offers a wide range of traditional and some more modern courses and is a leading UK research university, proud of its 29 Nobel Prize winners.
