It will provide football professionals from all backgrounds with the skills and techniques needed for success across disciplines within the football industry. This degree is offered in two distinct pathways, a practical pathway and a theoretical pathway. The modules will be the same across the programmes. Those who wish to develop their football career to the highest standard of the game with a view to gaining a professional contract and/or are interested in gaining future employment in areas such as PE teaching, health and fitness industry, physiotherapy, sports therapy, sports injuries clinics, sports development, sports management and coaching.
Course details (Football Delivery)
A full time programme (3 years) of football and education for students aged 18+, to start in September 2018. The players would access on average 8 hours of structured coaching per week delivered by senior FA UEFA licensed coach. First class training facilities based at our football hub at the Peter may Sports Centre (adjacent to Arsenal Football Academy) in London. Brand New 3G facility, on site gymnasium where all players have membership and one to one sports science and sports therapy support.
As well as receiving high quality coaching, players will have the opportunity of playing competitive matches against professional football clubs including Southend United FC, Colchester United FC, Burnley FC, Barnsley FC etc. Many of our students play for local semi professional teams. Invitational opportunities to train with Professional Football Clubs, including annual high profile showcase match attended by English professional football club scouts and overseas managers.
Players will receive regular mentoring sessions to discuss football and educational development, alongside career progression opportunities/routes. Players can also progress through FA coaching awards.
Theoretical Pathway Who is this course for? This route will allow you to study this degree and be based anywhere. You are not required to play sport to be accepted onto this route, and there will be no practical based assessments. This route will allow you to study for your degree and play/ work anywhere in the world whilst you study. We welcome applications from people of any age who might not meet the standard entry criteria, but we would expect to see evidence of continuing academic and/or professional development and a capacity to pursue the course successfully. Applicants will need to evidence IT skills and a willingness to participate in a range of practical sport and exercise activities. For these candidates this will be assessed through a written task followed by an interview.
