Newman University has developed an innovative foundation year for their social science degrees. The pre-degree year of this four year course, if passed, leads into the same study programme as the 3 year joint honours degree course in Health and Social Care.
This foundation year enables those unable to access the traditional UCAS tariff requirements for a three year degree, an alternative route into beginning and ultimately gaining an honours degree.
The BSc Health and Social Care degree course is designed to offer a platform for employment in health care and as a springboard to a professional career in health and social care services. The course intends to develop in students the appropriate knowledge, understandings, skills and values required of them to work, research and continue their studies in health care. It will provide a range of educational experiences that enable students to work in a multi-cultural environment within the UK and internationally. Students will develop a professional and caring approach to their work with individuals and communities, and to become reflective learners and practitioners.
