French and Spanish

University of Sunderland

UCAS Course code X340

Overview

Open up a wide range of opportunities both at home and abroad. Gain excellent language and communication skills as well as advanced cultural knowledge. Graduate with a range of transferable skills valued by employers.

French and Spanish are spoken as official languages in 49 countries in Europe, Africa and the Americas. This course will open up a wide range of opportunities for you, both at home and abroad. Not only will you gain excellent language and communication skills, but advanced cultural knowledge and a range of transferable skills valued by employers.

At the University of Sunderland we recognise not everyone can study both French and Spanish at school, so we offer specially designed intensive courses in either language so you can start from beginner or GCSE level - we only require you to have AS-level or above in one language. We also cater for students who have A levels in both French and Spanish who study the advanced streams in both languages from Year 1.

We encourage all our students to take our year abroad route as this is an unique opportunity to experience French or Spanish culture at first-hand and enhance your practical skills through immersion in the language. The year abroad will broaden your horizons and help you develop the qualities of independence and self-reliance which will give you the edge over other candidates when it comes to applying for jobs.
