This Foundation Degree with Integrated Foundation Entry is designed for those who want to study for the foundation degree but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to start just yet. The foundation entry modules include: Academic Writing and Studying in H&SC, Learning Development and Using ICT to Present Information, Developing Skills for Delivering H&SC, Measuring Health and Wellbeing, Foundations in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Disease and Developing Professional Skills for Delivering H&SC.
The course goes on to provide you with opportunities to develop skills in your specialist chosen pathway in health care and caring for people living with dementia. This course has been written in close collaboration with students and industry professionals to develop a unique and exciting course.
The main focus will be developing your knowledge and understanding of caring for people living with dementia, enabling undergradautes to make links between the key concepts and issues, and the delivery of community and care services in practice.
Contemporary dementia care service delivery will be explored with the aim of introducing undergraduates to the structure and organisational context of dementia care services and the key legislation and policy underpinning current service delivery.
The role of research in dementia care service delivery will be explored with the aim of developing key skills of analysis and critique in the provision and development of community and care services.
In the final year of the course, you will be further developing your knowledge and understanding. The course will critically examine therapeutic interventions, evaluate the impact of other functional problems and identify the practical application and the benefits of therapeutic interventions for people living with dementia.
Teaching and learning on the course will be delivered through a range of lectures, research seminars, group work and analysis.
Guest speakers from different areas of industry specifically working with people living with dementia will facilitate professional workshops and Q&A sessions. Undergraduates will be involved in industry placement where skills will be developed in working with people living with dementia.
